Experience the ultimate Japanese powder adventure with our exclusive small-group “Ride & Stay” packages. Operated in collaboration with Hikarigahara Cat Tours × Myoko Guiding Co., this tour combines guided freeride experiences, authentic accommodation, and the local culture of Joetsu Myoko, Niigata.

Nestled in the heart of Myoko’s snow country, Archie’s Guest House perfectly blends traditional Japanese charm with modern alpine comfort.
Ideal for families, small groups, or dedicated snow lovers, this spacious 4-bedroom private chalet offers everything you need for a cozy, memorable stay in Japan’s winter paradise.

A legend of Japanese snowboarding, Masa brings unmatched knowledge of the Joetsu–Niigata mountain region and leads all cat-ski operations. Haruki Takeuchi – Lead Guide & Next-Generation Freerider

Following in his father’s footsteps, Haruki represents the next generation of Japanese freeride talent. Known for his technical precision and passion for deep powder, he guides both local and international riders through Hikarigahara’s most dynamic terrain. Haruki combines safety, style, and stoke — ensuring every guest experiences Japan’s best snow through a rider’s eyes.

Cancellation Policy

Booking and Payment Terms

To confirm your Beyond the Boundaries – Ride & Stay Myoko Japan tour, a 50% deposit of the total package price is required at the time of booking.

Your booking is not confirmed until the deposit has been received and BTB has confirmed the availability of the accommodation, guiding and other included services.

The remaining 50% balance is due 60 days before the tour start date.

For bookings made within 60 days of the tour start date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Payments may be made by:

  • Bank transfer — preferred: Payment details will be provided with the booking invoice.

  • PayPal: Available subject to the transaction fee stated on the invoice.

All bank charges, currency-conversion costs and payment-processing fees are the responsibility of the customer.

Once the initial payment has been received and the required services have been confirmed, BTB will issue a booking confirmation. A detailed itinerary will be provided once the package structure has been finalised.

The booking is subject to these terms, the confirmed itinerary and any supplier-specific conditions communicated before payment.

 

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all guests.

The policy must cover, where applicable:

  • Skiing or snowboarding

  • Off-piste and backcountry activities

  • Cat skiing or cat snowboarding

  • Guided touring

  • Emergency evacuation and medical treatment

  • Trip cancellation and interruption

  • Travel delays

  • Lost or damaged equipment

BTB may request evidence of appropriate insurance before the tour begins.

Guests who arrive without suitable insurance may be unable to participate in certain activities, without refund.

Amendments Requested by the Customer

Requests to change the tour dates, guest numbers, accommodation, itinerary or package after confirmation must be submitted in writing.

BTB will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requested changes, but all amendments are subject to supplier availability and approval.

Any additional supplier costs, administration costs, price differences or non-refundable charges resulting from a requested amendment will be payable by the customer.

A reduction in guest numbers may result in the package being repriced based on the revised group size.

A requested amendment is not confirmed until BTB has approved it in writing and any additional payment has been received.

Customer Cancellation Policy

All cancellation requests must be submitted to BTB in writing.

The cancellation date will be the date on which BTB receives the written cancellation request.

The following cancellation charges apply:

  • 61 days or more before the tour start date: 50% of the total package price

  • 31–60 days before the tour start date: 75% of the total package price

  • 30 days or fewer before the tour start date: 100% of the total package price

These charges reflect advance planning, administration and financial commitments made to accommodation providers, guides, transport operators, Hikarigahara Cat Tours and other suppliers.

Where BTB is able to recover an amount from a supplier that would otherwise form part of the cancellation charge, BTB may return the recovered amount after deducting:

  • Non-refundable supplier payments

  • Bank and payment-processing fees

  • Currency-conversion losses

  • Reasonable administration costs

  • Any other costs already incurred in delivering or arranging the booking

No refund will be provided for:

  • Failure to arrive

  • Late arrival

  • Early departure

  • Unused accommodation, guiding, transport, meals or activities

  • A guest choosing not to participate

  • A guest being unable to participate because of inadequate fitness, experience, equipment or insurance

  • Removal from an activity for safety reasons or failure to follow guide instructions

Guests are strongly advised to insure the full value of the tour against cancellation.

Weather, Snow and Operational Changes

Snow, weather, visibility, avalanche conditions, road conditions, resort operations and mountain access cannot be guaranteed.

BTB, Hikarigahara Cat Tours, MGC and the appointed guides may change:

  • The selected resort

  • The riding area

  • The daily itinerary

  • The activity type

  • The departure time

  • The guiding plan

Changes may be made when reasonably necessary for safety, weather, snow quality, road access, resort operations, group ability or other operational reasons.

A change of resort, terrain or daily plan does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund.

If a scheduled Hikarigahara Cat Tour or other principal activity cannot operate, BTB will make reasonable efforts to provide a suitable alternative, such as:

  • Resort-based riding

  • Guided freeride

  • Lift-accessed touring

  • Another available activity

  • Rescheduling, where operationally possible

Where a supplier provides BTB with a refund or credit for a cancelled service, BTB will pass the recoverable value to the customer as an appropriate refund, credit or replacement service, after deducting any non-refundable costs already incurred.

BTB is not responsible for additional costs resulting from weather, road closures, transport disruption, resort closures, delayed travel or other circumstances outside BTB’s reasonable control.

Cancellation or Material Change by BTB

BTB may cancel or materially change a tour if it cannot be operated safely or practically due to circumstances outside its reasonable control.

These circumstances may include:

  • Severe weather

  • Insufficient or unsafe snow conditions

  • Avalanche risk

  • Road closures

  • Resort or cat-tour closure

  • Natural disaster

  • Government restrictions

  • Transport disruption

  • Illness or unavailability of essential operational personnel

  • Other force-majeure events

Where BTB cancels the entire tour before it begins, BTB will offer one of the following, depending on the circumstances and recoverable supplier payments:

  • Transfer to alternative dates

  • A credit toward a future BTB tour

  • A refund of recoverable amounts

Any refund will exclude non-refundable supplier payments, bank charges, payment-processing fees and costs already reasonably incurred.

BTB is not responsible for consequential expenses such as international flights, domestic travel, additional accommodation, equipment rental, insurance costs or loss of income.

Guest Responsibilities

Guests must provide accurate information regarding:

  • Riding ability

  • Backcountry and off-piste experience

  • Physical fitness

  • Dietary requirements

  • Allergies

  • Relevant medical conditions or limitations

  • Required rental equipment

Guests must follow all safety instructions issued by BTB, guides, accommodation providers, transport operators, resorts and Hikarigahara Cat Tours.

BTB and its operating partners reserve the right to modify or refuse participation where a guest’s ability, fitness, equipment, behaviour or condition creates a safety risk.

No refund will be provided where participation is restricted for legitimate safety reasons.

 

Services and Operating Partners

Beyond the Boundaries tours may be delivered in cooperation with independent accommodation providers, guides, transport operators, ski resorts and activity providers, including:

  • Hikarigahara Cat Tours

  • Myoko Guiding Co.

  • Lodge Sunshine

  • Hotel Soboku

  • Other suppliers identified in the confirmed itinerary

The exact operating partners and included services will be stated in the final booking confirmation and itinerary.

Unless expressly included in the confirmed package, the following are separate:

  • Resort lift tickets

  • Equipment rental

  • Travel insurance

  • Alcohol and additional beverages

  • Personal expenses

  • Additional meals

  • Unscheduled transport

  • Optional activities

All package prices include applicable consumption tax, BTB trip planning, coordination and the services specifically listed in the confirmed package.

What to Bring

To ensure you’re fully prepared for an unforgettable experience, please bring the following:

Backcountry Gear (Required):

  • Avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel

  • Maybe some Verts

  • Backpack with avalanche gear storage (30L-40L recommended)

  • Backcountry skis or split board with skins majority of the sidecountry is ski in ski out so depending on the groups gear we can work with the resort days.

Personal Items:

  • Proper winter clothing (waterproof jacket/pants, mid-layers, base layers)

  • Helmet, goggles, and gloves/mittens

  • Face mask or balaclava for cold weather

  • Sunscreen and lip balm (high SPF)

  • Snacks for full-day tours (optional)

  • Reusable water bottle or hydration system

Other Essentials:

  • Casual clothing for evenings

  • Travel insurance details

  • CASH as some local onsen and restaurants may not except card.
